Mark & Glen Hansard, along with musician friends and engineer Karl Odlum, are bringing back an old holiday time favourite; Mark’s song Christmas Biscuits.
The single will be available on iTunes on Friday 29th November in aid of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a charitable organization in Ireland with a mission to tackle poverty in all its forms through the provision of practical assistance to those in need. Christmas Biscuits coincides with SVP’s annual 2FM Toy Appeal launching on 20th November.
Mark wrote Christmas Biscuits while living in New York and missing his hometown of Dublin. It brings a mix of emotions about the happy, yet sometimes difficult period the Christmas season can be. Considering its mission, Mark thought The Society of St. Vincent de Paul would be the perfect fit for the song. SVP helps people in challenging times throughout the year, but often needs extra help to get people through the holiday period.
Glen Hansard is currently on tour in Europe, returning to Ireland with two shows in Dublin’s Vicar St. on November 25th and 26th. Mark and his band will support Glen on the 25th. Mark is also currently on tour and will play a Christmas show in Grand Social, Dublin on Saturday, December 28th. Tickets for all shows are available on www.ticketmaster.ie.
